Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy. PUE/DIT is one of the founding members of the EuroVR Association. The Department is composed of 13 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professor, 4 assistant professors, 3 permanent researchers, 1 research scientist and 1 administrative person. One of the main research fields of the group is virtual reality, augmented reality and multimedia. In this field the department has been involved in several European projects, multiple national projects as well as direct collaboration with other universities and major industry partners.

The Department of Information Technology has three research laboratories:

  • Laboratory of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality
  • Laboratory of Dynamic Human-Computer Interaction
  • Laboratory of Internet of Things

During the Web3D 2018 conference, guided visits to the laboratories will be provided to demonstrate the facilities and research works. The VR/AR laboratory is equipped with:

  • Full-size 4-sided CAVE (Barco), 120 Hz stereo, head tracking, surround;
  • 3.2 meters 4K PowerWall with back-projection system as well as head and controller tracking, 2 x NVidia M6000 for rendering;
  • 4 x 5 meters marker-less human motion tracking system (OpenStage 2);
  • Numerous head-mounted displays (nVisor ST50, Sensics dSight + AR + eyetracking, Oculus, OSVR, etc.);
  • 65” 4K touch table and screen;
  • Artec Eva 3D scanner;
  • Haptic interaction devices, magnetic trackers, inertial trackers, etc.
